Virtual office & GST registration in India, state by state
GST is a state-level registration: a GSTIN belongs to one state, its first two digits are that state's code, and you need a place of business in every state you register in. This table lists all 36 states and union territories with their GST codes, and the virtual office addresses SimplySetup lists in each — read live from our listings, so the counts are what you can actually buy today.

GST code. Every GSTIN is 15 characters and the first two are the state code above. A business registered at a Bangalore address gets a GSTIN starting 29; the same business registering in Noida gets a second GSTIN starting 09. The codes are fixed under GST law and do not change with the provider.
Why the state matters. Tax is charged and credited by state. If you buy goods or services in a state where you hold no GSTIN, the input tax credit on those purchases is generally lost, and you cannot issue a tax invoice from that state. An Additional Place of Business (APOB) or a new GSTIN in that state fixes both — which is the usual reason for a virtual office outside your home state.
What "addresses listed" means. The number of published virtual office listings SimplySetup has in that state, counted at page load. Each is on premises owned by SimplySetup or an exclusive partner, and each comes with the rent agreement, NOC, utility bill and signage that GST officers ask for. The city links go to pages that show every address, its locality, and packages.
Price. The same three packages apply in every state — Business Address, GST Registration and Company Registration — so the "from" column is the Business Address package. GST at 18% is added and shown separately; there is no government fee for GST registration.

ApprovalIf the officer raises a query or show-cause notice we draft and file the reply; if a physical verification is scheduled we coordinate with the space.
Start operatingGSTIN or CIN in hand, the address is live for invoices, letterheads and correspondence.
When it gets difficult
Most applications clear first time. When they don't, this is what we do — and what we don't.
Show-cause notice (SCN) — we read the officer's objection, draft the reply with the supporting documents and file it within the notice period. Included in the GST and Company packages.
Physical verification — we coordinate with the space so the signage, agreement and NOC are on site on the day. We cannot guarantee an officer's decision.
Rejection — we re-file with the corrected documents at no extra service fee.
Out of scope — we do not file GST returns, annual filings or accounting under these packages; those are separate services.
Registering in a second state, in practice
Customer case · Construction-equipment leasing company, Mumbai
A two-year contract in another state
The problem
They won a work order to lease heavy equipment in Uttar Pradesh. Billing it needed a UP GSTIN, and renting an office for a two-year contract was expensive.
What we did
A virtual office in Noida under Uttar Pradesh GST jurisdiction and a GST registration filed for it.
Outcome
UP GSTIN issued; the company invoiced the contract from Noida without taking physical space.
Published with the customer's consent; identifying details withheld at their request. Registration references can be shared with prospective customers on request.
Where the experience comes from. SimplySetup's group company handles around 900 GST registrations and 300 company incorporations every month across India. The document set, the filing steps and the notice handling on this page are the same ones that team uses.
Can one virtual office cover all of India for GST?
No. GST registration is per state. One address gives you one state's GSTIN (or an APOB in that state). To invoice or claim credit in another state you need a place of business there — which is why businesses take a virtual office in each state they operate in.
Do I need a new GSTIN or just an APOB in the second state?
If you already hold a GSTIN in that state, you add the new address as an Additional Place of Business. If you hold none there, you register a new GSTIN for that state. Both use the same document set; we advise which applies on the call.
Is the GST state code the same as the vehicle registration or PIN code prefix?
No. It is a separate two-digit series defined for GST (for example Maharashtra is 27, Karnataka 29, Delhi 07) and it is the only thing that determines the first two digits of a GSTIN.
Which states have no addresses listed?
Rows marked "no addresses listed yet" are states where we do not currently publish an address. We can often still arrange one — ask us and we will confirm availability and timing for that state.
